Emerald Educational Engagement Grants (EEEG)

We empower the next generation of #EcoHeroes by providing micro-grants to youth-led and youth-targeted environmental projects and initiatives in Alberta. The Emerald Educational Engagement Grant (EEEG) program provides up to $750 to dream projects inspired by the Emerald Documentary Series.

How to participate in EEEG

Step 1: Complete the Expression of Interest form. This must be approved by the Alberta Emerald Foundation (AEF) before moving to Step 2.

Step 2: Binge-watch the Emerald Documentary Series and participate in conversations with the support of our study guides.

Step 3: Pitch an environmental project to the AEF inspired by something you saw in the Emerald Documentary Series. If your pitch is accepted, you will be provided with $750 to make it happen.

Step 4: Once your project is complete, submit a follow-up report to tell us how it went.

Pitch Criteria

  • Pitches must be submitted by a group. Individuals are not eligible for funding.
  • Participants must be 25 years of age or younger.
  • Participants and projects must be based in Alberta, Canada.
  • Pitches must be for environmental projects inspired by the Emerald Documentary Series, and as such, must positively impact the environment.
  • Participants must submit a follow-up report within three months of the project’s acceptance date.

Please note

  • EEEG applications are currently closed. We will reopen our youth grant programs in September 2020.
  • You must be notified by the AEF that your expression of interest has been approved before moving onto step 2.

  • Applicants are only eligible for one grant per granting period.
