As visitation to the Bow Valley and Kananaskis Country continues to grow, so does the risk of human-wildlife conflict. Increased recreation, development, and changing environmental conditions are putting added pressure on wildlife, while many visitors lack the knowledge needed to safely share these spaces.
The Volunteer Wildlife Ambassador Program addresses this gap through peer-to-peer education delivered where it matters most. Trained volunteers engage directly with residents and visitors on trails, at campgrounds, and in community spaces, sharing practical guidance on wildlife safety, responsible recreation, and how individual actions impact wildlife.
Since 2007, volunteers have contributed more than 13,500 hours and connected with nearly 130,000 people!
