Land of Dreams is a 30-acre community farm in Calgary that serves as a sanctuary for connection, healing, and environmental restoration. Rooted in Blackfoot wisdom and guided by Elder Herman Many Guns, the farm brings together newcomers, Indigenous communities, and diverse cultural groups to cultivate food, restore the land, and strengthen relationships between people and nature. Through regenerative agriculture and community stewardship, Land of Dreams is redefining environmental action as a collective, intercultural effort.
Once a degraded construction site, the farm is now a thriving ecosystem where soil health is being rebuilt, biodiversity is increasing, and carbon is being sequestered through sustainable farming practices. Participants, many of whom are refugees and immigrants, reconnect with farming skills from their home countries while learning traditional Indigenous land stewardship techniques. This approach fosters deep respect for the land and creates a shared space where knowledge, traditions, and sustainability practices are exchanged across cultures.
