The Home Upgrades Program (HUP) is Alberta’s first fully subsidized energy retrofit initiative, ensuring that lower-income households can access energy-efficient home upgrades without financial barriers. A collaboration between Kambo Energy Group and Alberta Ecotrust, this program is tackling energy poverty, helping families reduce their energy bills, improve home comfort, and cut carbon emissions.
Since its relaunch, HUP has supported over 500 households and educated 2,000+ individuals, providing high-efficiency furnaces, insulation, energy-saving appliances, and air-sealing upgrades—all at no cost to participants. On average, households save 30 GJ of energy and prevent 1.63 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, making a direct impact on both affordability and environmental sustainability.
