Asphalt shingles are one of Alberta’s largest and most persistent garbage streams, often ending up in landfills despite being fully recyclable. This creates long-term environmental challenges while valuable material remains unused.
Razphalt® is changing that by transforming discarded shingles into a cost-effective solution for rural roads, commercial lots, and driveways. Made entirely from recycled materials and produced through a low-energy, low-emissions process, Razphalt® is installed cold using a paving machine.
Razphalt® delivers immediate dust and mud control and continues to compact over time through traffic and sunlight, forming a durable surface. Razphalt® is a high-quality, low-maintenance alternative to gravel and recycled products, offered at a fraction of the cost of hot asphalt.
Since 2016, this Calgary initiative has diverted over 100,000 tonnes of waste from landfills and is now expanding across Alberta and Canada, with a vision to scale anywhere shingle waste exists—turning local waste into local road solutions.
