Asphalt shingles are one of Alberta’s largest and most persistent waste streams, often ending up in landfills due to limited recycling options. This creates long-term environmental challenges while valuable materials go unused.
Razphalt is changing that by turning old shingles into a durable road surface. Using a low-energy process, the material is made entirely from recycled inputs and installed with standard equipment. It helps reduce dust and mud on roads, hardens over time, and requires less ongoing maintenance than traditional options.
Since 2016, the initiative has kept over 100,000 tonnes of waste out of landfills while providing a more affordable and long-lasting solution for roads across Alberta.
