The Elements Society is shaping the next generation of climate-conscious leaders through EcoCooks, an innovative food and environmental education program that teaches youth how their food choices impact the planet. By integrating hands-on cooking workshops with climate action education, EcoCooks provides students with practical skills to reduce food waste, make sustainable food choices, and understand the environmental impact of our food systems.
Since launching in Alberta in 2022, EcoCooks has engaged 2,854 students in 113 classrooms and an additional 553 community members through interactive workshops. The program has made a tangible environmental impact—helping participants conserve over 1.38 million litres of water, prevent 5,807 kg of CO₂ emissions, and save 18,245 m² of land simply through sustainable ingredient swaps and food waste reduction strategies.
