Founded on the belief that better materials create better sleep and a healthier planet, Calgary-based Black Sheep Mattress builds custom, chemical-free mattresses using responsibly sourced wool, cotton, and natural Talalay latex—offering an alternative to mass-produced, synthetic mattresses that contribute to landfill waste.
Each year, six million mattresses end up in Canadian landfills. Black Sheep Mattress is tackling this waste crisis by designing durable, long-lasting products, offering a complimentary mattress recycling service, and upcycling excess materials into useful household products like wool dryer balls and pet beds. To date, the company has recycled over 250 mattresses and planted 350 trees through local reforestation initiatives.
Beyond sustainability, Black Sheep Mattress supports community well-being by donating mattresses to organizations like YW Calgary, contributing to fundraising initiatives for environmental conservation, and supplying natural cotton insulation to local beekeepers.
