PROVINCIAL ENVIRONMENTAL EXPO HEADS TO CAMROSE’S ECOFRIENDLY PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE

Looking for a fun way to inspire the whole family to be more environmentally friendly? The Alberta Emerald Foundation is hosting Emerald Day on September 12 in Camrose, and could not be prouder of their venue, the Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre.

“We are so fortunate to have found a venue that compliments the spirit of Emerald Day, and the values of our Foundation so well,” says Carmen Boyko, Executive Director, Alberta Emerald Foundation. “Every detail of the building’s design was chosen with sustainability in mind. It is truly an unparalleled example of eco-friendly architecture, and is a symbol of Alberta’s commitment to our environment.”

The Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre is home to the largest integrated photovoltaic array (solar panels), which blanket the entire 70’ fly-tower, including the north face. It is the first theatre in North America to use entirely LED lighting, including the stage lights, on the interior and exterior of the building.

Kicking off at noon, Emerald Day’s events include an environmental trade show, youth activity, Emerald Awards Speaker Series, community BBQ, and a showing Disney Pixar’s environmental classic WALL-E. Thanks to the support of donors and sponsors, all events are free to attend.
