The Recipient

Climate Change Central (C3) is a not-for-profit organization that for ten years, has helped Albertans achieve provincial climate change targets. C3 catalyzed the country‘s first provincially regulated carbon offset trading system in Alberta, and administered cash rebates to entice consumers and employees to adopt energy efficient home retrofits and high efficiency appliances through the ‘My Rebates’ program and corporate in-reach programs. In their ‘Trucks of Tomorrow’ program, C3 provided rebates for transport companies to become more fuel efficient, and they also offered incentives for taxi companies to adopt fuel efficient hybrid vehicles. Since their founding in 2000, C3 estimates that their efforts have contributed to 1.6 megatonnes of greenhouse gas emissions being reduced or avoided by 2020.
