Mr. Guy West, Chair Guy West has a passion for youth and a deep desire to bring about generational change in both behaviour and values in Alberta’s young people. Since assuming the Presidency of ABCRC in 2003, Mr. West has dramatically expanded the organization’s youth programming – developing unique tools such as a Cycle of Life Teacher’s Handbook and a recognition program for Alberta schools that provides recognition and rewards for enhanced recycling behaviour. In 2000, ABCRC received an Emerald Award for its consumer awareness efforts in beverage container stewardship. Mr. West earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Athabasca University in 2000. |

Mr. David L. Day, Past Chair Mr. David Day brings over 30 years experience in the parks and conservation field to his position with The City of Calgary’s Environmental Management business unit. Born in England and raised in Montréal, Mr. Day is a practicing geographer by education and inclination (B.A., 1969, Concordia; M.Sc., 1971, University of Calgary). Mr. Day’s professional career includes 20 years public service with Parks Canada, specializing first in natural resource inventory and management, and subsequently as superintendent of Jasper National Park, Rideau Canal and Banff National Park. From 1992 until 2003, he was a principal in the firm IRIS Environmental Systems Inc., specializing in environmental assessment and management for the tourism industry in protected and environmentally sensitive areas. He has also worked internationally for the Nature Conservancy, World Bank and industry. In June 2003, Mr. Day returned to public service, attracted by the challenge of applying his experience to supporting Calgary’s municipal and community leaders to achieve a high standard of environmental quality for the present and future generations. |

Mr. Ken Kan Mr. Kenneth Kan brings a diverse background of industry experience balanced with technical and business training. He acquired his B.Sc (1992) and M.Sc (1994) at the University of British Columbia and his Executive Master of Business Administration (2007) at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary. Born in Taiwan and raised in Vacouver, he has a passion for not-for-profit work and the environment. Mr. Kan began his career with a 6-year period in the natural gas production, transmission and distribution industry. He broadened his exposure to multiple industries during this tenure with the BC government. For the last 7-years, he has focused on manufacturing and energy-related industries. At GE, Mr. Kan is responsible for environment, health and safety at power transmission and distribution manufacturing sites globally. In driving a culture of sustainability, he brings leadership that embraces and leverages the cultural, operational, and regulatory diversity at sites encompassing almost 8,000 associates. He also has GE-wide leadership responsibilities for the Western Canadian region. He holds professional designations from the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals and the American Board of Industrial Hygiene and has been published in a peer-reviewed international periodical. |

Mr. Darrell Martindale Manager of Environment & Regulatory Compliance, Albian Sands Shell For the past 5 years Mr. Darrell Martindale has worked for Albian Sands Energy's (Albian) Muskeg River Mine and is currently the Manager of Environment and Regulatory Compliance. Under his direction, Albian became the first oilsands mine to become ISO14001 certified and registered. After graduating in 1978 from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. in Mineral Engineering, Darrell has spent much of his professional life working in the mining sector. He has worked in many diverse settings such as Bolivia, Indonesia and British Columbia. Darrell also spent almost 5 years working in international development and following a two year CUSO contract in Bolivia, Darrell returned to Alberta and in 1986 to complete his M.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering specializing in Irrigation and Drainage. He returned to Latin America and worked on development projects in Bolivia, Honduras and Nicaragua. |

Mr. Dave Mowat Dave Mowat is a banker, drawn to the business 30 years ago by a keen interest in the financial industry and kept there by his love for getting the customer the best deal. Over three decades, the Alberta-born, B.C.-educated MOwat has seen all aspects of the banking world: venture capital markets, credit, retail and small business financing, and three chief executive posts. His passion for the industry has led him to the boards of several prominent Canadian organizations, including Visa Canada and the Conference Board of Canada. He was hired in June 2007 as President and CEO of ATB Financial, the largest Alberta-based financial institution and a dynamic presence in all corners of the province for the past 70 years. He leads 5,000 talented and creative ATB associates who share his desire to get Albertans that best deal possible. |

Mr. Alan Ross Alan Ross is a partner in the Calgary office of the national law firm Borden Ladner Gervais. He has over 15 years experience in the areas of energy regulation and infrastructure development. His practice includes acting in regulatory proceedings in the electricity, pipelines and oil and gas sectors. Prior to joining BLG, Mr. Ross worked in the corporate department of an international law firm in London, Englad and as senior legal counsel to TransCanada PipeLines. Mr. Ross has acted on a significant number of high profile international infrastructure development projects and privatizations in the UK, Saudia Arabia and the former Soviet Union. Mr. Ross was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1996, and the New York Bar in 2003. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University in 1994. Subsequent to that, he graduated with his Master of Business Administration from Oxford University in 2000. |

Ms. Lorna St. Thomas Lorna St. Thomas is currently Senior Advisor, Community Partnerships and INvestment at Enbridge Pipelines Inc where she has held a position in Public Affairs since February 2007. Enbridge Pipelines Inc. operates the world's longest liquid pipeline system. Prior, Lorna's previous career experience and educational pursuits have been in the areas of Marketing, Public Affairs and Community Rlations. In 2010 she returned to the University of Toronto to complete her certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility from their St. Michael's College Campus. Currently, in addition to serving as a volunteer and Board Director with the Alberta Emerald Foundation, Lorna also serves as a Board Director and volunteer with Junior Achievement of NOrthern Alberta and NWT. She was a recpient of JA's 2010 Chairman's Award recognizing Outstanding Volunteer Contribution tto the community. |
